How to make your PS2 A/V adaptor Bi-Directional
Right, i know that this isnt really Hak.5 material but it sorta fits in the same genre with the ipod laser hack from Episode 1x06 and its a money saving mod. Also please tell me if there is anything i should change, Im a n00b at wikis so please be kind ;)
This is a Mod to allow you to Make the Phono to Scart adapter that came with your PS2 Bi-Directional. At the moment it will only accept input to the three phono connectors to output in the scart connector. I realise that you can buy this type of adapter, but thats no fun!
- Also This type of connector that came with the ps2 also comes with other consoles for instance the xbox however the pins might be in different positions. The best way to work out it to use this resource to re-wire your scart connections.
The great thing is, Sony left the required pins in the scart end so the only stuff you need is some wire, some solder and a soldering iron.
Here is how to do it:
1) Open the plastic case of the adapter.
2) Make sure that the side facing you is the side with 4 scart pins (2 either side)
3)Solder the wire onto the Video and audio pins for scart and the video and audio pins for the phono connectors as shown below ( I hope it makes sense)
The Yellow line shows the wire going from the video live phono pin to the video input (pin 19) on the scart connector.
The Black and red lines show the wire going from the Right and left audio live phono pins to the Right and Left audio input (pins 1 and 3) on the scart connector.
The Ground connections should be the same.
Finally, put the plastic case back together and test it.
