2009 UK meetup - The third (unofficial) Hak5 EU meet up, arranged by the community. This page will track the current plans as we finalise the details of the meet.

London , maybe http://www.astorhostels.co.uk/#/en/page/hydepark for the base of operations still under talks, location will be base of facilities, location and price and is a work in progress.
[edit] Age
Due to alcohol, and the problem of responsibility, there is reluctance to let under 18's, or under 16's come. However, there are many young hak5 fans. Bearing in mind the point below:
- This is a weekend in a big city, and the adults don't want to be forced into responsibility
- Do parents know?
- There WILL be alcohol
- Hak5 has a large under 18 audience
- Perhaps we can allow under 18's for a period during the day, but restrict the full time to 18+
- Can we have a bunch of guests who aren't staying at the hostel showing up during the day, and if not where can we take all our stuff
- How many young'uns are there anyway? Maybe there aren't many in the uk who can come to begin with?
The current policy is this: 16+ are allowed during the day, after a certain point they should return home, ans the full event (particularly at night) will be limited to 18+.
[edit] Beverage
BYOB (bring your own bottle). Bring drinks, or buy while you are there. Expect a communal approach to them. It's a party, that's how it goes (even for geeks).

This will be sorted out while we're there. Essentially, we'll eat out, or buy something to cook up at the hostel. We'll have a relaxed attitude. If you have BIG dietary requirements let us know. If you have simple dietary requirements, just try not to order something that causes you to die. I'm sure you'll manage, you managed up to now ;)

Primarily, this is a meet, a geek out, a party etc. But lets think of cool stuff to do while we're there! We don't need a lot of structure, just ideas to get things moving right away :)
Things already semi-organised:
Friday afternoon meet up. Cold beers, tech chat, showing of your kit, food, assessing the area and so on for the people that can make it. Maybe hit up Cybercandy for some Jolt Cola (collar for the elite haxor) lol, and other random energy drinks to stay alert.
Maybe head to The Nell of Old Drury (with in walking dissidence from Waterloo and Victoria train station) in the evening to meet up with anyone that arrived late and have a few beers with London 2600 lot and find out about the progress of the UK London based hacker space.

Suggestions to bring:
- Laptop
- Lots of network cables, crossover AND standard ethernet!
- Routers, wifi routers, etc.
- PDA/Phones
- Bluetooth dongle
- Radio scanner
- Infrared dongle
- Cameras
- Ham/CB/FRS/446 radio equipment
Bring as much networking equipment as you can, its all fun!
Requests:
- Projector for watching movies etc! PLEASE let us know if you can bring one
- Spare cables of all kinds
- A few USB hubs would be useful
- USB Nics, damn useful things
- We can probably find uses for small form factor servers
- Cool projects, gadgets, wargames, software, ...
