[edit] Description

Throughout the show's history, there have been three major set designs:

  • "Old San Francisco" - This set looked much like a basement, with almost no embellishment and a cold, drab feel. This gave the show a "homebrew" feel.
  • "New San Francisco" - This set design appeared to be much more "industrial" than the previous set, with metal embellishments on several surfaces and in nearly every shot. Some refer to this set as the pinnacle of the TSS era.
  • "Los Angeles" - The final set design, appearing after the show's move to Los Angeles in the buyout by Comcast and G4, was known for its bright colors and seemingly unrelated feel.

[edit] Comcast Buyout

Comcast sought out to purchase TechTV to add content to its own electronic-entertainment channel G4. Several TechTV shows, including TSS, managed to survive the merger (unlike Laporte-hosted Call for Help). Of course, this meant that the cast would have to move to Los Angeles to continue filming, and Patrick Norton left the show as a result, preferring to stay in San Francisco with his wife. Then-hosts Kevin Rose and Sarah Lane joined up with new co-host Alex Albrecht.

[edit] End of Run

As a result of the buyout and twice-renaming of the resulting network TSS was broadcast on, the show was renamed to Attack of the Show, featuring most of the final TSS crew and focusing on more general topics.
